Clare Harris

Dr Clare Harris is Reader in Visual Anthropology in the School of Anthropology, curator for Asian Collections at the Pitt Rivers Museum and a Fellow of Magdalen College. Drawing on both art historical and anthropological approaches, her research focuses on visual and material culture in the Himalayas, Tibet and the Tibetan diaspora.  She has curated several exhibitions and directed ‘Tibetan Visual History 1920-1950’, an AHRC funded project on colonial period photography. Her most recent book is The Museum on the Roof of the World: Art, Politics, and the Representation of Tibet(University of Chicago Press, 2012).
